'On the Marshes, Norfolk'

have been working for a while in my studio on this painting of Halvergate Marshes, having made a small reference study on location last autumn.  The view is bathed in late September sunshine and, in the middle distance, the thistle heads are back-lit.   Achieving this effect in paint proved quite a challenge!

'Gaffers off Southwold Pier'

I painted this view from a sketch I made sailing aboard an Oyster Smack built in 1889 called 'Transcur', when she took part in the Southwold 'Old Gaffers' Race.  This painting will be on show with
'Dunes and wet sands, Wells' below (and two other paintings) at the East Anglian Group of Marine Artist's forthcoming exhibition at Thompson's Gallery in Aldeburgh.

The East Anglian Group of Marine Artist's exhibition at Thompson's Gallery in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, runs from 4th - 26th April

'The Boatyard at Slaughden, winter light'

I love this view in winter of the boatyard on the River Alde at Slaughden.
The deeply rutted track to the boatyard often fills with puddles and reflects the evening sky.

'Last of the Winter Sun, Cromer'

I am currently working on eight paintings for a forthcoming show entitled 'Sheringham to Yarmouth - An Easterly Viewpoint', to be held at The Gallery Norfolk in Cromer.  With the Cromer view, I aimed to capture the effects of the very low winter sun which made the pier glow with warmth in contrast to the cooler foreground shadows.  'Waxham Dunes' will also feature in the exhibition, which will explore the eastern areas of Norfolk's Coastline and inland waterways.
